Anza by Diego Magana is a red wine from the Rioja DOCa appellation in northern Spain, crafted primarily from Tempranillo along with small amounts of Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, and other traditional Riojan varieties. The grapes are sourced from old bushvines ranging from 30 to 50+ years in age, grown in pure limestone soils that lend the wine its characteristic minerality and structure.

Winemaker Diego Magana ferments with indigenous yeasts in open-top wooden vats, preserving the natural character of the fruit. The wine is then matured in 500-liter barrels and oak vats of varying sizes, resulting in a balanced integration of oak without overwhelming the primary fruit. The 2021 vintage earned 94 points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

On the palate, Anza delivers aromas of chalk, vibrant red berries, hibiscus, and wet stones. It is rich in red cherry and plum flavors but remains fresh and lively, with a medium to full body, fine-grained tannins, and a long, elegant finish. This is an exceptional value-driven Rioja that drinks beautifully on its own or alongside lamb, beef, and aged cheeses.
