M. Chapoutier Domaine de Bila-Haut L'Esquerda is a red wine blend from the Côtes du Roussillon Villages appellation in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. The blend is primarily Syrah with Grenache and Carignan, sourced from the L'Esquerda commune in the Agly Valley near Perpignan. "L'Esquerda" means "escarpment" in the local Catalan dialect, reflecting the dramatic canyon terrain of this area near the Mediterranean Sea and the Spanish border.
The wine is aged for 7 to 8 months in concrete tanks, preserving the fruit-forward character of the blend. Tasting notes highlight aromas of dark and ripe berry fruit, black pepper, cocoa, warm spices, and violet with lightly smoky undertones. On the palate, it offers meaty Syrah-driven flavors with garrigue, licorice, and streaks of minerality, finishing with chewy tannins and a long, dry finish. The wine has 15% alcohol by volume and is imported by Sera Wine Imports.
