Le Dragon de Quintus is the second wine of Château Quintus, a prestigious estate in Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France, owned by the Domaine Clarence Dillon family — the same family behind the legendary Château Haut-Brion. The wine takes its name from the iconic dragon statue that presides over Château Quintus's elevated promontory terroir in Saint-Émilion.
This red Bordeaux blend is typically composed of approximately 79–81% Merlot and 19–21% Cabernet Franc, aged for 18 months in 40% new French oak barrels. The result is a wine with a dense, purple-red color and an inviting nose of black cherry, plum, vanilla, and subtle spice. On the palate it delivers round, smooth, fresh red fruit character — redcurrant, blueberry, and blackberry — with velvety tannins and a well-integrated finish.
With 14% alcohol by volume, Le Dragon de Quintus is approachable in its youth yet structured enough to reward short-term cellaring. It pairs beautifully with roasted meats, game, and hearty stews, and shows particularly well alongside classic Bordeaux-style cuisine.
