Château Carbonnieux Blanc is a Grand Cru Classé de Graves white Bordeaux from the prestigious Pessac-Léognan appellation. Produced by one of the oldest estates in Bordeaux with a history dating back to the 12th century, this legendary wine was famously introduced to the Sultan of Constantinople's palace in the 18th century as "mineral water from Carbonnieux." The estate spans 170 hectares with 100 hectares under vine on gravel, sand, limestone, and clay soils.
The white blend is composed primarily of Sauvignon Blanc (approximately 65%) and Sémillon (approximately 35%), fermented and aged for 10 months in barrels and wooden casks with 25% new oak. When young, the wine is delightfully refreshing and pure with fruity, floral intensity featuring notes of citrus, grapefruit, passion fruit, and white flowers. With maturity it develops hints of dried and candied fruits, offering versatility with food pairings including fish, shellfish, foie gras, poultry, and spiced dishes.
Best served at 12–14°C with a cellaring potential of 4 to 8 years. Alcohol content is typically around 13% ABV.
