La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is a Bordeaux red wine from the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation in the Médoc region of France, produced by the renowned Borie family of Château Ducru-Beaucaillou. This 3-liter format (double magnum) offers an impressive and cellar-worthy presentation of one of Bordeaux's most respected second labels.
The wine is crafted from approximately 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35–37% Merlot Noir, and 3–5% Petit Verdot. The Petit Verdot contributes a subtly spicy touch that adds complexity to the blend. The estate's terroir is defined by its namesake "beautiful pebbles" — soils rich in quartz that are nutrient-poor and ideal for producing concentrated, high-quality fruit. The vineyards sit on ridges near the Gironde River, benefiting from a distinctive microclimate shaped by the La Mouline stream.
Described as powerful, silky, and very aromatic, the wine beguiles with its bouquet, balance, remarkable finesse, and lengthy finish. It reflects the Borie family's elitist approach to winemaking and serves as an accessible introduction to their signature Ducru-Beaucaillou style. The 3-liter format is ideal for special occasions, aging, or entertaining.
