Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac 2001, 2003 & 2008 Bordeaux Magnums - 3 x 1.5L

This exclusive Costco set includes three magnum bottles (1.5L each) of Château Mouton Rothschild Pauillac — the legendary Premier Cru Classé First Growth from the Médoc region of Bordeaux, France. The set spans three celebrated vintages: 2001, 2003, and 2008, offering a rare opportunity to taste the evolution of one of the world's most prestigious red wines across distinct growing seasons.

Château Mouton Rothschild is crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon (approximately 81%), with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot rounding out the blend. The estate's 83-hectare vineyard sits atop the Mouton Plateau in Pauillac, where deep gravel soils provide exceptional drainage and concentration. Vines average 50 years of age, with some parcels dating back to 1890. The wine is aged for 19 to 22 months in 100% new French oak barrels. Each vintage label features an original artwork by a renowned artist, a tradition dating to 1945.

The 2001 vintage is known for its complex aromas of ripe blackcurrant and bilberry with notes of smoke and leather, earning 94 points from Wine Spectator. The 2003 vintage, from the legendary hot summer harvest, is opulent and rich. The 2008 vintage is considered one of Mouton Rothschild's best, featuring a label designed by Chinese artist Xu Lei. Magnum format (1.5L) is widely regarded as the ideal aging format for fine Bordeaux, allowing slower, more complex bottle development.

These wines are best served at approximately 60°F (15.5°C) and pair beautifully with roasted or braised red meats, lamb, duck, game, and rich umami dishes. Young bottles benefit from 3–6 hours of decanting; these vintages, now 15–25 years old, are approaching or at their peak drinking windows.
