Château La Fleur de Gay is a prestigious red Bordeaux wine from the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux's Right Bank in France. Produced by the Raynaud and Lebreton families, this wine debuted in 1982 and is crafted from a specially selected 2-hectare parcel of the oldest vines belonging to Château La Croix de Gay, one of Pomerol's historic estates dating to 1777.
The blend is composed of 91% old-vine Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, planted on gravel and clay soils at elevations rising to 38 meters. The wine is vinified in concrete vats and aged for approximately 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels before bottling. Production is intentionally small, hovering around 1,000 cases per year.
In top vintages, La Fleur de Gay expresses layers of dark plums, black cherries, chocolate, truffle, espresso, and dried flowers, with a silky, velvety texture and a long, opulent finish. The wine benefits from at least 7–9 years of bottle age and reaches peak maturity between 9 and 22 years after vintage. It is best served at 15.5°C (60°F) and pairs beautifully with classic meat dishes including beef, lamb, duck, veal, and game, as well as mushrooms and rich pasta preparations.
