Tessellae Old Vines Red Blend Côtes du Roussillon 750ML

Tessellae Old Vines is a bold GSM red blend from Domaine Lafage, sourced from the Côtes du Roussillon appellation in southern France. The wine is a joint venture between importer Eric Solomon and winemaker Jean-Marc Lafage, assembled from old-vine vineyards grown on black schist and clay-limestone soils near Maury in the Upper Agly valley.

The blend is composed of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Grapes are harvested by hand, fermented for a month following a short pre-fermentation cold maceration, and aged entirely in concrete tanks to preserve freshness and terroir character. The wine has an alcohol level of 14.5%.

On the palate, expect rich aromas of blackberry, plum, dark cherries, and spice, with notes of grilled herbs, violet, black pepper, tapenade, and hints of graphite. Medium- to full-bodied with fine, supportive tannins and a concentrated, generous finish. The wine has earned 93 points from James Suckling and 90 points from Wine Spectator. It pairs well with hearty dishes such as beef, lamb, pasta, and charcuterie.
