Bass Phillip Estate Pinot Noir is a benchmark Australian Pinot Noir from Gippsland, Victoria, crafted by one of Australia's most celebrated boutique wine estates. The fruit is sourced from the original 1979 main vineyard in Leongatha — a 3.5-hectare block planted on unique cool-climate soils that impart remarkable minerality and complexity to the wine.
The Estate expression represents the best barrel selection from Bass Phillip's Leongatha vineyard, rested for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels (around 22% new). The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, preserving its natural texture and terroir character. It is the third tier in the Bass Phillip hierarchy, sitting below the Premium and Reserve expressions, yet still regarded as a world-class Pinot Noir by connoisseurs.
Expect vibrant aromas of spicy plum, black cherry, and graphite, with powdery tannins and layered, elegant flavors running into a long, persistent finish. The wine is not excessive in tannins or alcohol when young and develops gracefully with age, gaining intensity over time. Exceptional aging potential of 10–20+ years. Alcohol approximately 13.9% by volume.
