Domaine de la Galopière is a fifth-generation, family-owned artisanal winery nestled in the village of Bligny-lès-Beaune in Burgundy's prestigious Côte de Beaune. Founded by Eusèbe Fournier in 1882, the estate is now led by Gabriel and Vincent Fournier, who farm 27 acres across celebrated appellations including Pommard, Meursault, Ladoix, Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chassagne-Montrachet with a commitment to tradition and terroir.
This Pommard is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grown on the south-facing limestone-clay slopes that give the village its reputation for producing some of Burgundy's most structured and age-worthy reds. The wine is aged 12 months in oak barrels, with 10–20% new oak, building complexity while preserving the elegance of the fruit.
On the nose, the wine is expressive and aromatic, with bouquets of honeysuckle, small red fruits, currants, and spice. On the palate it is warm and hearty, with the rich dark fruit, earthy undertones, and impressive aging potential characteristic of great Pommard. The same terroir produces wines sold elsewhere for up to $200 per bottle.
