Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is a prestigious Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé B from the Right Bank of Bordeaux, France. Situated on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, the estate's vineyards sit atop deep clay-limestone soils threaded with ancient underground quarries that impart a distinctive mineral character to the wine. The estate spans 22 hectares, with vines averaging 45 years of age — some Merlot plantings reaching 75 years.
The blend is composed predominantly of Merlot (65–80%), complemented by Cabernet Franc (13–35%) and a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes undergo whole-berry cold maceration before fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation on lees. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in a combination of new French oak barrels (55%) and amphora jars, which contribute texture and complexity without over-oaking.
In the glass, this wine shows a deep, dark ruby-purple color. The nose offers intense aromas of black cherry, plum, cocoa, and dark chocolate with floral undertones. On the palate, ripe red cherry and raspberry fruit is framed by silky tannins and lively acidity, with a long finish of cedar, vanilla, and mocha. This wine is built for aging and reaches its peak 10–15 years after vintage, with potential to evolve over 30 years.
