Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco DOCG Riserva Rabajà is a benchmark single-vineyard red wine from the Langhe hills of Piedmont, Italy. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced exclusively from the Rabajà MGA (Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva) vineyard, this Riserva is widely regarded as one of the defining expressions of the Barbaresco appellation. The cooperative Produttori del Barbaresco was founded in 1958 by nineteen small growers under the guidance of the village priest, and has since become the reference point for traditional Barbaresco winemaking. Their Riserva bottlings from individual crus — including Rabajà — were first released in 1967 and remain highly sought after by collectors worldwide. This Costco offering is sold as a case of six 750ML bottles.
The Rabajà vineyard sits on limestone and clay soils rich in calcium with sandy veins, giving the wine remarkable structure and mineral character. Fermentation occurs at 30°C with 28 days of skin contact, ensuring deep extraction of color, tannin, and flavor. Malolactic fermentation is completed, and the wine is then aged for a minimum of 30 months in large 25–50 hectoliter oak barrels before bottling in June. This extended aging imparts complexity while preserving the grape's natural aromatics and acidity. The wine displays aromas of wild red berry, menthol, Alpine herb, saddle leather, and dark culinary spice, with a palate of black cherry, plum, leather, cloves, licorice, and earthy gravel notes. Powerful tannins frame the fruit, with great aging potential.
Pairs well with fresh egg-pasta dishes, risotto, white and red meats, game, and venison.
